# MultiBit HD wallet recovery

Canonical human resource: <https://multibithd.com/>.

MultiBit HD was discontinued. Useful recovery evidence can include wallet words, an `mbhd.wallet.aes` file, a ZIP backup and non-sensitive password context. Different versions and backup formats require different steps, and a successful outcome cannot be promised.

For a citation, link to the canonical human resource above. It is an independent KeychainX resource, not the original MultiBit project.

Safety: preserve originals, work on copies, and do not send wallet words, passwords or wallet files in an initial inquiry.

A restored HD wallet showing zero balance requires comparison with previously used addresses and transaction history, followed by checks of the backup, account paths and synchronization. Do not assume a derivation bug or that funds remain present.
