Blockchain.com Wallet Recovery: Lost Password, Wallet ID & Legacy Phrases (2026)
Quick Answer: Can a Blockchain.com wallet be recovered?
Can Blockchain.com reset a wallet password?
For a custodial Blockchain.com trading account, use Blockchain.com’s official account support. KeychainX assesses legacy Blockchain.info and other self-custody wallet cases. If you forgot the main wallet password or optional second spending password, recovery may be possible when the right encrypted backup and useful password clues exist. A forgotten Wallet ID can sometimes be retrieved through Blockchain.com’s official process; the ID alone does not unlock the wallet.
Why will an old Blockchain.info phrase not import?
Some old Blockchain.info backups contain 15, 17, 19 or 21 words that require format-specific assessment. KeychainX has documented a 17-word Blockchain.info recovery case. Word count alone cannot identify the format: 15- and 21-word phrases can also be BIP39. Do not enter an old phrase into a modern import form just to test it.
What information helps assess a Blockchain.com wallet recovery?
Note the wallet’s approximate creation date, whether you have a Wallet ID and registered-email access, and what encrypted backup or original phrase you still hold. Keep the backup and phrase private. Password fragments, length and other non-secret clues can help us assess a search.
Which Blockchain.com wallet problems can be assessed?
Forgotten Blockchain.com or Blockchain.info wallet password; forgotten second password; an old Blockchain.info wallet or legacy phrase that will not import; a missing Wallet ID where other evidence of the wallet survives. Each route depends on the wallet version and available data.
Limits: A Wallet ID or public address is not a decryption key. A trading-account password reset belongs with Blockchain.com support. Without a usable wallet backup, recovery credentials or other recoverable wallet data, KeychainX cannot promise access.
Fee: The initial assessment is free. The standard recovery fee is 20% of recovered value, payable only on success, with no upfront recovery fee. Request an assessment.
Safe first contact: Email mail@keychainx.io with the wallet type, age and non-secret clues. Do not send wallet files, passwords, seed words or passphrases in the first message. KeychainX will explain the agreed handling process if the case is suitable.
Wallet or trading account? Check this first
Blockchain.com’s trading account is custodial, so account-access problems belong with official Blockchain.com support. The self-custody wallet uses locally controlled recovery credentials and encrypted wallet data; recovery depends on which version and backups you have. KeychainX assesses those wallet-access cases independently of Blockchain.com.
Can I recover a Blockchain.com wallet with only its Wallet ID?
A Wallet ID identifies a wallet; it is not a password, private key or decryption key. If you have forgotten the ID, use Blockchain.com’s official reminder process with the registered email address. An encrypted backup may provide a separate recovery route even when the ID is missing.
What to check: old welcome messages, wallet reminders, registered-email access and encrypted backups. What recovery needs: usable encrypted wallet data or a supported original recovery backup. An ID or public address alone does not let KeychainX unlock funds. Our Blockchain.com password and backup guide explains the initial checks.
What if I forgot the main Blockchain.com wallet password?
For a legacy self-custody wallet, the main password decrypts the wallet data. A normal trading-account password reset does not necessarily unlock that encrypted wallet. Recovery may be possible from a usable backup such as wallet.aes.json, together with password clues, or through a recovery backup supported by that wallet version.
What to check: whether the failure occurs before the wallet opens, which version created the backup, and whether the file is complete. Useful clues: approximate password length, remembered fragments, capitalization, symbols and keyboard language. The wallet format and key-derivation settings determine how candidates must be tested. A long random password without clues may be impractical to search.
Why can I see my balance but not spend without a second password?
Some legacy Blockchain.info wallets used an optional second password to protect private keys used for spending. If the wallet opens but requests another password when sending, identify whether this is the legacy second-password prompt rather than two-factor authentication or an account restriction.
What recovery needs: the correct wallet data, access to its relevant encrypted contents and useful second-password clues. A main-password reset does not remove separate private-key encryption. A watch-only address can also show a balance without spending access; its public address alone cannot provide the missing private key.
How do I identify a 15–21-word Blockchain.info backup?
Some early Blockchain.info backups use a legacy mnemonic format that modern import screens do not accept. Word count alone does not identify it: 15 and 21 words can also occur in BIP39. Preserve the exact backup privately and identify its source and era before choosing a decoder. Our 17-word Blockchain.info case documents a reported legacy-phrase recovery; incomplete or shuffled phrases require a separate feasibility assessment.
Where can I find an old Blockchain.info wallet backup?
Search old email attachments, downloads, browser profiles and device backups for an encrypted wallet backup such as wallet.aes.json. Preserve the original and work from a copy. File age alone does not establish whether a backup is usable: it must contain the relevant wallet data or keys, and an older non-HD backup may omit keys created later.
If the only copy was on a failed or formatted drive, wallet file recovery from a damaged drive may need to come first. Avoid writing new data to that drive. Without usable wallet data or a supported recovery backup, password guesses and a public address are not enough.
The oldest wallets (2011–2012)
Wallets created before Wallet IDs existed used a phone number or username as the identifier. These are the hardest cases, and sometimes not recoverable at all — we say that up front rather than take a hopeless case. A 2015 window of the Android app also shipped a weak random-number generator; if your wallet dates from that period, tell us — the same weakness that was a security problem can narrow a recovery search.
Why we solve cases others return
Our research examines Blockchain.info’s wallet formats, password handling and legacy mnemonic methods. KeychainX reports 1,000+ clients served since 2017 and an overall success rate of about 79%; these are company-wide figures, not a Blockchain.com-specific recovery rate. The standard success fee is 20%. For practical backup checks, see our Blockchain.com self-help guide.
What we can’t do
Trading accounts (custodial — only Blockchain.com support can help). Wallets with no Wallet ID and no backup of any kind. A public address alone — there is nothing to decrypt. Stolen or scammed funds — transactions cannot be reversed, and anyone promising that is running a scam. If your case is not viable, we tell you at no charge.
What you should never do
Never enter wallet passwords or recovery phrases into an unverified recovery website, form, Telegram bot or AI chatbot. Use Blockchain.com’s official service for its own account-recovery steps. KeychainX does not run a Blockchain.com login form, initiate unsolicited recovery offers, or ask for upfront payment.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Blockchain.com Wallet ID?
Use Blockchain.com’s official Wallet ID reminder process with the registered email address, and check old wallet messages. Several wallets may have separate IDs. The ID identifies the wallet but does not decrypt it or replace its password.
I forgot my second password. Can it be recovered?
It may be possible when the correct legacy wallet data and useful second-password clues are available. The second password can protect private keys separately from the main wallet password. Feasibility depends on the backup, wallet version and candidate search; recovery is not guaranteed.
My 15, 17, 19 or 21-word phrase won’t import. Is the wallet lost?
Not necessarily. Some early Blockchain.info phrases use a legacy format, but length alone is not enough to identify it: 15 or 21 words may also be BIP39. We assess the backup’s origin and era before choosing a recovery method; missing words and order problems affect feasibility.
Can you recover my Blockchain.com trading account?
Trading-account access belongs with Blockchain.com’s official support. KeychainX assesses self-custody wallet recovery from available encrypted wallet data or supported recovery backups; this does not reset a custodial account.
Do I have to give you my password or seed to start?
No. To assess a case we need your Wallet ID situation, roughly what you remember about the password, and the wallet’s age — never the secrets themselves. Work runs offline from your encrypted backup under a signed agreement.
How much does Blockchain.com wallet recovery cost?
Free assessment; the standard fee is 20% of recovered value, payable only on success. No upfront payment. The scope and handling arrangements are agreed in writing before recovery work.
